Instructions to Timothy

After reading the first book of Timothy, I decided to write out some of the clear instructions Paul gave him:

1. Cling to your faith in Christ , and keep your conscience clear.
2. Pray for all people. Ask God to help them; Intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.
3. In every place of worship I want men to pray with Holy hands lifted up to God free from anger and controversy.
4. Women are to be modest in their appearance.
5. If aspiring to be an elder-ones life must be above reproach.
6. Deacons must be well respected and have integrity.
7. We should not reject anything but receive it with thanks.
8. Train yourself to be godly.
9. Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young.
10. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith and your purity.
11. Focus on reading the scriptures to the church, encouraging the believers and teaching them.
12. Do not neglect the spiritual gift you received
13. Give your complete attention to these matters.
14. Through yourself into your task so that everyone will see your progress.
15. Keep a close watch on how you live and on your teaching.
16. Stay true to what is right for the sake of your own salvation and the salvation of those who hear you.
17 Never speak harshly to an older man but appeal to him as you would your own father.
18. Talk to younger men as you would your own brothers.
19. Treat older women as your mother and younger women with the purity as you would your own sisters.
20.Take care of a widow who has no one else to care for her.
21. Do not listen to an accusation against and elder unless it is confirmed by two or three witnesses.
22. Never be in a hurry about appointing a church leader.
23. Do not share in the sins of others, keep yourself pure.
24. Run from all these evil things.
25. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance and gentleness. Fight the good fight for the true faith,
26. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have confessed so well before many witnesses.
27. Obey this command without wavering.
28. Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is unreliable. And to use their money to do good.
29. Guard what God has entrusted to you. Avoid godless, foolish discussions with those who oppose you with their so-called knowledge.

Feeding a Holy Discontent

feeding a holy discontent...the lost can still be found. Stay close to your "Holy Discontent" was the repeated message delivered on May 30th 2009, A message I once heard during one of the Leadership Summit. The message didn't hit me as much, the first time I heard it-so thank God for repetition. Homeless, Hungry, Broken, Alone...those were the written words of this gentleman whom I had the privilege to greet. Sitting on a folded quilt (in a clear garbage bag) reading his book. I asked him boldly, with fear, if i could take some pictures of him. I expected a yes or a no but he asked, why? How awesome was that?-totally a great question for conversation. I explained the sermon that was spoken and how i wanted to apply by feeding it, because I couldn't take anymore of it-and he nodded with an understanding look and said, OK. I was really surprised and thanked him. I first asked him what his name was and what he was reading. He told me he was reading a book of soldiers in ...

Good news

Today, I have to thank God for the people he has called and chosen and allowed to be an impacting part of my life. Before the Gospel of Christ came to my ears, I heard of God and of sin, and of death, and of hell and of obedience and of disobedience. But never did i hear of life, and the way out of the things I knew where wrong. When I was a little girl about 11 years old, I was sitting in the park on 156th street after running around in the sprinklers for sometime. I decided to relax and dry off before i went home to grandmas. At that time, an older woman came over to me and asked me if I wanted to receive Jesus into my life and, well I said what do i have to do, and she responded: all you have to do is say that you receive him. So i said, Ok i receive him. Who "him" was, i had no idea, what "him" did, i knew not and why "him" was to be received-lets just say i was completely ignorant to. I grew up with general revelation of God but no spiritual revelat...
